Abbreviated translation of two manuscript journals written in German
The second of these journals was later published under the title: Derer beyden Prediger Herrn Boltzii und Herrn Gronau Reise-Diarium, so dieselben von Halle aus bis nach Georgien, auch noch einige Zeit nach ihrer Ankunft in solchem Lande, geführt (issued as "Zweytes Stück", p. 39-142, of: Aus führliche Nachricht von den Saltzburgischen Emigranten, die sich in America niedergelassen haben. Halle, 1735, and edited by Samuel Urlsperger). The first journal, by von Reck, was never published in full, but some of its text was printed as footnotes accompanying the account by Boltzius and Gronau mentioned above
Signatures: [A]² (±[A]2) B-K⁴ ([A]1 verso blank)
Page 28 misnumb.: "27"
Text consists of two sections: "Extracts of Mr. Von Reck's Journal from Dover to Ebenezer." (p. [1]-26), and: "Extract of the Reverend Mr. Bolzius's Journal, from their arrival in Carolina." (p. [26]-71). Since the original German text of this second journal was composed jointly by Boltzius and Gronau, the present extract in English should also be credited to these two persons. Page 72 has the heading: "Advertisement." and is a solicitation for funds to aid the persecuted Salzburgers
